Coloris

The many hours invested in a handmade piece deserve a yarn selected with confidence. LAMBSWOOL by Lang Yarns brings together the fineness of Merino superfine 160’s, a traceable origin and carefully documented production. Made entirely from virgin wool, it is suitable for both knitting and crochet and can be considered for projects throughout the year.

Fine merino wool with a delicate handle

LAMBSWOOL is spun from 100% virgin wool sourced from Australian merino sheep. Its particularly fine fibres have a delicacy reminiscent of cashmere, although the yarn does not contain cashmere. This makes it appealing for sweaters, cardigans, scarves, hats and other accessories worn near the face or neck. If you are sensitive to wool, knit a generous swatch first and hold it against your neck before committing to a full garment.

The fineness of Merino superfine 160’s also contributes to the pleasure of making. As you knit, you can watch the stitches form and assess how the yarn travels over your preferred needles. A proper swatch will show how it behaves with your individual tension and how stockinette, ribbing, cables or another textured pattern appear. This practical step helps you judge both comfort and stitch definition in the fabric you actually intend to make.

Traceable from Eastern Australia to Italy

LAMBSWOOL is produced in Italy by a long-standing partner of Lang Yarns. The mulesing-free wool can be traced back to its farm of origin in Eastern Australia. Its entire supply chain is certified to the RWS, Responsible Wool Standard. This certification covers sheep welfare, sustainable management of the land and fair, safe working conditions from the farm through to the finished yarn.

The same attention continues during processing. The dyeing process and all subsequent finishing stages hold Cradle to Cradle Gold certification. At the end of its life cycle, the yarn is completely biodegradable and leaves no harmful substances behind. This transparent journey allows you to consider origin, animal welfare and production alongside colour, handle and gauge when choosing the material for your next handmade piece.

What can you make with LAMBSWOOL?

With 150 metres per 50 grams and a recommended needle size of 4.5 to 5 mm, LAMBSWOOL lends itself to knitted or crocheted garments and accessories. Consider it for a sweater, cardigan, scarf, hat or a set of coordinating accessories. As an all-season yarn, it gives you the freedom to select the shape, stitch density and style that best suit when and how you plan to wear the finished piece.

The stated gauge is 20 stitches and 27 rows over 10 cm. Always make a sufficiently large swatch before beginning a substantial project, especially a fitted garment. Depending on your personal tension, you can work within the recommended needle range to reach the measurements required by your pattern. Your swatch will also help you assess the fabric, drape and appearance of textured stitches before several balls have been used.

Care for the work you have created

The value of a carefully chosen yarn becomes clear when the finished piece remains a pleasure to wear. Care for LAMBSWOOL with a detergent formulated for wool and do not use fabric softener. Making a swatch beforehand also helps you control tension and pattern definition before starting the full project. When selecting several balls for one piece, check the dye-lot information printed on their labels.

A quality yarn can justify the difference in cost through the pleasure of making, the precision of the result and the pride felt in a patiently finished piece. Choose LAMBSWOOL by Lang Yarns for your next sweater, refined accessory or considered crochet project.
