DUETT by Lang Yarns gives a knitted or crocheted fabric visual movement without asking you to master a complicated colour technique. This chainette yarn is made from 100% cotton and has two differently coloured sides. Made entirely from cotton, DUETT contains no animal fibre. It is intended for the spring and summer season and can be considered for pullovers, cardigans, tops, shawls and other accessories. Each 50 g ball provides 140 metres, and the recommended needle size is 4 to 4.5 mm. This balance makes DUETT suitable for both simple shapes and projects that place greater emphasis on surface texture. Rather than relying on additional patterning for visual interest, you can allow the structure and two coloured faces of the yarn to do the work.

Protect the hours you put into your project

A garment represents many hours of careful knitting, so your time matters more than a small difference in yarn price. Before casting on, work a generous tension swatch in the stitch pattern you intend to use. The stated tension is 22 stitches and 32 rows over 10 cm. Check the measurements as well as the drape, colour distribution and your own response to the cotton against the skin. For a garment worn near the face, holding the swatch briefly against your neck is a useful personal comfort test.

Wash the swatch in the same way you plan to care for the completed piece, using a fine-wash detergent without fabric softener. This gives you the opportunity to assess the fabric and confirm your tension before investing further time. The shifting colour is an intentional feature of DUETT, so a larger swatch will also provide a clearer view of how the effect behaves in your selected stitch.
